Privacy policy

Your information, handled with care.

This policy explains what FASAS Professional Membership Services collects when you apply or enquire, why it is collected, and how it is used, shared, retained and protected.

01

Information we collect

When you submit an application or an enquiry, FASAS Professional Membership Services collects the information you choose to provide, which may include:

  • Your name
  • Contact details, including phone or WhatsApp number, email address, country and city
  • Your highest qualification, course or field of study and institution
  • Graduation information, including year of graduation
  • Professional experience, including current occupation and years of experience
  • Your preferred programme and preferred induction location
  • Any other application or enquiry information you submit, including messages and how you heard about us
02

Why we collect your information

Your information is collected and used only for legitimate purposes connected to your request:

  • Processing and assessing your application
  • Responding to membership enquiries
  • Communicating with you about your selected programme
  • Providing applicant support and guidance through the membership process
  • Administrative purposes, including record keeping and service improvement
03

Data protection

FASAS takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you submit against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and unauthorised disclosure. Application and enquiry records are stored in a secured database, access is restricted to authorised FASAS personnel who need it to process your request, and administrator access requires individual authenticated sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information at all times.

04

Sharing your information

FASAS does not sell your personal information. Where it is necessary to process your request, your information may be shared with the administrators of the relevant programme or professional institute you have selected — IPMA, AISM, IIDMM or IIAIDL — so that your membership application can be considered. Information may also be shared with service providers who support our operations under confidentiality obligations, or where required by applicable law or lawful request. Any sharing is limited to what is necessary for the purposes communicated to you at the point of collection.

05

Marketing communication

With your consent, FASAS may send you information about programmes, events, induction dates and professional development opportunities. You may opt out of non-essential marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option in any message, by replying to stop future messages, or by contacting FASAS using the details below. Opting out of marketing does not affect essential messages about an application you have submitted.

06

Data retention

Your information is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Active application and membership records are retained for the duration of the application or membership process and for a reasonable period afterwards to support follow-up, record keeping and legitimate administrative or legal requirements. Retention periods are determined by the status of your application, whether an ongoing membership relationship exists, and any legal, regulatory or accounting obligations that apply. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.

07

Subject to applicable Nigerian data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information FASAS holds about you
  • Request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing already carried out
  • Request deletion or restriction of your information where applicable
